Wounds, tissue viability and lymphoedema: learning from the past to inform the next decade of innovation


Wound Care Today and the Wound Healing and Practice Development Unit of Birmingham City University held a parallel TVN specialists stream at Wound Care Today 7 March 2024.

'Wounds, tissue viability and lymphoedema: learning from the past to inform the next decade of innovation’ brought together experts in the fields of wounds, tissue viability and lymphoedema who reflected on the last three decades of innovation in their fields, and shared their first-hand experience of overcoming barriers to innovation in a diverse range of settings. The speakers also engaged with the specialist audience to discuss the realities of innovating in the existing NHS, identify what barriers exist and how to innovate over the next decade.

The sessions explored how to foster a culture of innovation, and focused on a diverse range of relevant topics from lower limb wounds, negative pressure wound therapy, debridement, regulation and digital healthcare.
