Wound bed preparation

Wound bed preparation is a concept that prepares the wound bed of wounds healing by secondary intention, for healing or further treatment.

TIMES is an acronym that was developed to promote a systematic approach to wound bed preparation to ensure all local factors that could be delaying closure are identified and addressed.

Together they promote a holistic approach to wound assessment and treatment, addressing both systemic factors that may impact on the wound and the local conditions in the wound bed, to promote healing (Atkin and Rippon, 2016; Snyder et al, 2016).
