Biflex SelfAdjust: Adjustable compression system for upper and lower limb

Wound Care Today 2026 New Product and Innovation Zone presents Thuasne Biflex SelfAdjust

Thuasne Logo Biflex SelfAdjust is indicated for the management of oedema (venous, lymphatic and caused by injury), chronic venous insufficiency and symptomatic treatment of lipoedema.

It:
  • Ensures a pressure level minimum of 20–40mmHg for lower limb and of 20–30mmHg for upper limb and the fitting reproductivity*
  • Provides complete covering of the limb to avoid migration of oedema
  • Allows transfer of moisture transfer**
  • Is easy to don and doff.
* Test protocol and results – pressure adjustment internal R&D November 2022
** Breathability test IFTH January 2023

Biflex SelfAdjust is an innovative pressure-adjusting system which enables you to be able to switch between reduced and full compression without the need for separate garments. It consists of separate pieces – the foot wrap, the calf wrap, a knee wrap, thigh wrap, hand and arm wrap.

How do you use the pressure adjuster?

The adjuster comes with 3 levels of pressure: L low (light blue line – 20mmHg), M medium (blue line – 30mmHg) and H high (dark blue line – 40mmHg).

Pressure is reached by pulling on the strap which slides the adjuster until the outside of the loop is over the desired level of pressure. If necessary, the segment pressure can be adjusted by adjusting the loops from bottom to top.

How does Biflex SelfAdjust benefit patients?

Having separate pieces enables patients that have strength or dexterity issues to apply the wrap themselves.

With the self-care agenda, patients like to know that they are delivering the right amount of compression. With Biflex SelfAdjust they can easily see what they are delivering. This may improve compliance because they know that they are actually applying the right amount of compression rather than basing it on judgement.

The indicators on Biflex SelfAdjust mean that the healthcare professional and the patient both know that the patient is receiving a consistent level of compression, even if they are seen by different clinicians, which will lead to better clinical outcomes.

The ability to cut the foot wrap to size means that it fits the patient's foot perfectly every single time, which prevents any issues around fitting and therefore patient concordance.

How does Biflex SelfAdjust benefit the healthcare professional?

As a direct manufacturer, Thuasne has been able to develop a product that achieves genuine cost savings of up to 50% compared to other compression wraps (Drug Tariff April 2026), without compromising clinical performance (Greener, 2025) and still including a unique, integrated pressure indicator for application accuracy.

The integrated adjuster provides clinicians with confidence in applying the correct pressure between 20–40mmHg and makes it easier for patients and carers to self-manage their treatment more accurately (Thuasne, data on file, 2022).
