First-time speaker and abstract submissions

Apply to be a first-time speaker at Wound Care Today 2027

Since we launched WCT ten years ago, we have offered three spaces on the main stage every year to clinicians who have never presented at a national conference before. Full mentorship is offered through the process, including one-to-one coaching from Oliver Medill, one of the UK’s leading presentation experts.
Entry criteria includes:
  • Never spoken at a national conference before
  • Submissions must be based on work carried out by you within your organisation.

Deadline for submission: Wednesday 20 January 2027
Notification if accepted on: Friday 29 January 2027

One-to-one session with Oliver Medill, a keynote speaker and author of the book, ‘The Impact Formula’, who will help you to present with impact and manage nerves and confidence issues.

One night’s free accommodation for those invited to be a first-time speaker.

This category calls for examples of focused approaches to challenging existing healthcare systems, unwarranted variations in care being addressed, and how patient-centred care has been prioritised.
Clinical case reports
Clinical case reports:
This category calls for examples of your clinical experience to share with peers how you and your colleagues have overcome clinical challenges through collaboration and patient-centred care.

"When I was told that I had been given a space as a first-time speaker, I was really nervous. However, the support and coaching from Oliver was amazing — he taught me the tools to use to speak to a large audience and I felt ok about it.

Getting onto the stage and looking out was probably the most nerve-wracking bit. But once I began talking, it just flowed. I even found his voice coaching me as I stood there. I could hear him saying, pause, sip some water, slow down, look around. The talk went really well. The atmosphere was so supportive.

I had no idea how this would change me. My next talk was on a roadshow with Michael Moseley. I continued gaining confidence and began getting involved in more programmes at work and starting to feel like I could speak up and I am now a quality improvement coach for others as well as a nurse advocate.

For anyone contemplating this, I’d say give it a go. It’s a once in a lifetime experience being taught by someone with so much knowledge and experience."

Abstract submission for Wound Care Today 2027

Share your great work at WCT 2027! Whether it's a tricky case, quality improvement, service development, or innovations in practice, we would love to hear from you.
Abstract submission deadline: Wednesday 27 January 2027
Abstract review notification: Monday 1 February 2027

If your abstract is accepted, you may be one of three people asked to present your work as a free paper on the main stage! 

Alternatively, you may be asked to submit your abstract as an e-poster for display via the WCT 2027 app.

Instructions for submitting e-posters
Your abstract should be a maximum of 400 words (plus the lead author’s full name, job title, work address, including post code, daytime telephone number, and work email address).

If you are advised that your e-poster has been accepted, it should be portrait orientation and submitted as either a PDF or JPG file by Friday 26 February 2027 to: binkie@jcn.co.uk.
